Unlike a straight ladder, the Skyarm ladder articulates in several places, making it possible to avoid utility wires and other obstacles encountered during firefighting and rescue work. By attaching a fixed waterway to the ladder sections, a large volume of water can be deployed quickly and accurately. The Skyarm Sigma features a set of push-button jacks that can be extended to support the weight of the truck and maintain a stable, perpendicular platform, while the three-section telescoping ladder can play a role in rescue situations that require considerable horizontal reach. Because the floor of the platform basket remains horizontal, aerial operations can be carried out with added safely.
