Toolbox Tool option bar

 The toolbox is often used for editing and processing a picture. To select a tool, click on it in the toolbox. Click and hold the mouse button to select other tools of the same type.
Tools used for retouching

Toolbox
If there is a small black triangle () in the lower right corner of a tool, related tools are available by clicking on the triangle.
Rectangular Marquee (Shortcut; M)
The marquee tools are used for selecting an area with a fixed shape: rectangular, oval, single line.
Lasso (Shortcut; L)
A free-form area selection tool. The polygonal lasso tool and the magnet lasso tool are also stored here.
Crop (Shortcut: C)
Crops (removes) a selected rectangular area
Healing brush (Shortcut: J)
Automatically removes wrinkles, dust, or other small imperfections.
Clone stamp (Shortcut: S)
Copies a desired area to another area with an undesired element
Eraser (Shortcut: E)
Removes unwanted parts of a picture by dragging over the part.
Blur (Shortcut: R)
Blurs an area by dragging over the area. The Sharpen and Smudge tools are also stored here.
Hand (Shortcut: H)
”Grabs” the picture so you can drag it to show areas not in the document window.
Move (Shortcut: V)
Drags the selected area or layers.
Magic Wand (Shortcut: W)
Judges the approximation color of the clicked pixel and automatically selects a selection area.
Brush (Shortcut: B)
Applies a chosen color as the brush is dragged
Gradient (Shortcut: G)
Applies color gradation (several styles). The Paint bucket is also stored here.
Dodge (Shortcut: O)
Lightens a dragged area. The Burn-in tool, which has the opposite effect, is also stored here.
Eyedropper (Shortcut: I)
Acquires information on the color of the clicked position
Zoom (Shortcut: Z)
Controls the magnification of the displayed image.
Foreground and Background color (Shortcut: X)
Displays the color picker. Switches the foreground and background colors when the arrow is clicked.
Quick mask mode (Shortcut: Q)
Switches between Quick mask mode and Standard mode.
Standard mode (Shortcut: Q)
Switches between Quick mask mode and Standard mode.

Tool option bar

 The content of the tool option bar changes with the tool selected. Two examples are given here: the brush tool and the marquee tool.
