Photoshop Menu

 Understanding the menus is the essential element in achieving smooth operation, not only for Photoshop, but also for any software program. Photoshop has nine menus.
  Learning the menu positions will facilitate smooth operation.
Menus used for retouching

FILE menu

 Open and save images, import scanned and digital camera images, and print images from the File menu.
EDIT menu

 Cut, copy and paste, and set the color space from the Edit menu.
IMAGE menu

 Most of the functions used in image editing are on the Image menu.

FILTER menuMODE submenu
Control the color system on the Mode submenu.
· RGB
This mode is usually used by digital cameras and scanners.
It is also used for printing with ink-jet printers.
· CMYK
This complimentary color system is usually used in the printing process.
· Lab
  This industrial standard is used by industry. Color reproduction can be better controlled than with other systems.

FILTER menuCOLOR CORRECTION submenu
Among others, the Color Correction submenu includes the following functions.
· Level Correction (I) (Ctrl + L)
  Set gradation.
· Tone Curve (V) (Ctrl + M)
  Adjust brightness of the colors.
· Color Balance (B) (Ctrl + B)
  Color balance adjustment
· Hue : Saturation (H) (Ctrl + U)
  Adjust color (hue) and chroma (saturation) of the colors.
· Selecting a specific color level (S)
  Select a specific color to adjust.
LAYER menu

 Menu for operating layers. Many items on the menu can also be accessed from the Layer palette.

FILTER menuNEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER submenu
Creating a new adjustment layer for making color adjustments to an image.
If you do not like the adjustments made with an adjustment layer, you can delete the layer without affecting the original image. You can also use an adjustment layer to make trial and error adjustments.
If desired, an adjustment layer can be saved and used in a different file.
Selected Area menu

 A selected area can be canceled, reversed, expanded, reduced, etc. The selection range can be changed. Selecting a specific color to adjust also chooses a specific color from here.

 Special effect filters grouped on submenus by category.

FILTER menuSharpen submenu
By sharpening, outlines are more conspicuous, making the image appear sharper. Although the sharpness effect is emphasized by strengthening the contrast of adjoining pixels, the [Unsharp mask] filter controls it with three parameters. The Unsharp mask is useful for performing delicate sharpening processing to your own liking.
VIEW menu

 Increase or reduce image size, add or remove rulers and grids, etc.
WINDOW menu

 Window management, such as window alignment, display changes, and displaying various palettes
HELP menu

 Displays help information or connects to the Adobe.com Internet site for on-line help.
