6. Adjust curves for the sky

We will adjust the dull, cloudy sky to a clear, blue sky. We will bring out a beautiful blue color by adjusting the curves of the channels in the RGB format.
6-1 Load the selected area
First, load the selected area of the sky that has been saved.
The selected area is loaded

6-2 Make the adjustments using the curves
We will bring out the brightness of the sky by adjusting the RBG channel of the curves and by increasing the contrast of the cloudy portions.

Slightly lower the tone of the overall sky to bring out the bright portions, and create contrast between the blue color of the sky and the white color of the cloud.
Choose Color Tone Correction from the Image menu to open the curve. Click to check the dark portions of the clouds in the sky. While you are clicking, the pointer appears on the curve. Click over the location of the pointer to create a new pointer on the curve.
Move the curve by slightly dragging the pointer to the lower right. To sharpen the color of the overall sky, slightly move the lower left portions of the curve toward the right. This will bring out the dark color of the data to create contrast in the sky.
Next, we will highlight the blue tint of the sky by changing the channel of the curve. Select Blue for the Channel. Click over the blue portions of the sky to display a pointer. Click to make a new pointer.
Turn the pointer slightly upward to make a gentle curve. Raising the blue channel makes the blue tint stronger, but the color becomes purplish.

Adjust the red channel to correct the purplish color.
Create the pointer in nearly the same location as that of the blue channel to make a curve slanting toward the lower right. Now, the purplish color is slightly restrained.
To further reduce the purple color, adjust the green channel.
Change the channel to Green, and create the pointer in nearly the same location as those of the blue and red channels. As we did in the blue channel, turn the pointer slightly upward and drag it to create a gentle curve. This brings out the real blue color of the sky and creates transparency.
The contrast of the cloud is increased, and the blue color of the sky is restored. The image now has a clearly defined sky.
