Scan the paper clips. In this case, use a flatbed scanner. A flatbed
scanner has flat glass on top on which the material to be scanned is placed. Place the paper clips on the
glass, and scan them. Be sure not to overlap the clips. Do not use white clips because the background is
white and they won't show. In this sample, set the paper size to A4 and the resolution to 300 dpi in color
photo mode. The method of scanning depends on the software used with the scanner. Refer to the operation
manual for complete instructions. |

When you click background layer on the [Layers] palette, a dialog box appears. Click
[OK]. The background layer changes to Layer 0. |

Select [Levels] from [Adjustments] in the [Image] menu. In the dialog box that appears,
click [Set White Point]. When the cursor becomes an eyedropper, click the white area of the background. The
background seems to be evenly white. However, there are slight shadows. To find the point where the background
color is the whitest, therefore, click several spots on the background, then click [OK]. |
