3. Configure the layer filled with colors.

3-1 Blur Layer paint.
Make sure that Layer “paint” is selected as active on the layer palette, and then select the [Filters] menu - [Blur] - [Gaussian blur]. On the dialog box displayed, set [Radius] at “15 pixels” and click on the [OK] button. In the example, the radius is set at “15 pixels.” Even if the same values apply, the result will differ from the example depending on the resolution of the photo. It is best to set [Radius] to your preferred value. An ideal radius will make the color boundaries look soft and harmonized.
The larger the value in [Radium] on the [Gaussian blur] dialog box, the more the image will be blurred.

3-2 Change the drawing mode for Layer paint.
Set [Drawing mode] for Layer “paint” to “Color burn” on the layer palette. In the example, “color burn” is selected for the purpose of effectively overlaying Layer “paint” on the original image in sepia tone. The “color burn” mode overlays the upper image on the lower image darkened to increase the contrast. You may select a different [Drawing mode] depending on the original image and the colors painted on it.

3-3 Change the opacity of Layer paint.

Next, set [Opacity] at “50%” for Layer “paint.” As the [Opacity] value is lower, the selected layer becomes more transparent. In this example, the value “50%” is selected, but you may set a different value depending on the situation.
