Quick & cool TOP
1. Reducing the image and creating a black edge around the image

1-1 Open the image
Open the image to be processed. You can use any image for this example. Use your favorite image.
Before

1-2 Change the background layer to Layer 0
Reduce the image. As the image cannot be reduced while there is a background layer, change it so it can be edited (in this case, reduced). Double click the background layer in the layers palette. A dialog appears. Click [OK]. The background layer is then changed to Layer 0.

1-3 Reduce the image
Select [Scale] from [Transform] in the [Edit] menu. The bounding box (a rectangular box with points on the four corners and four sides) appears around the photo. Adjust the size by dragging the corner points while pressing the [Shift] key. When you decide on the correct zooming size, click [Commit Transform] on the [Tool Options] bar, and move the image to the center using the [Move] tool.

1-4 Load the selected area
Select [Load Selected Areas] from the [Selected Areas] menu. A dialog appears. Make sure that [Channel] is set to [Layer 0 Transparency], and that [Invert] is not checked, then click [OK]. The selected area is created in the image of Layer 0.

1-5 Create a new layer
Select [Layer] from [New] in the [Layer] menu while keeping the target area selected. A dialog appears. Enter Frame for the name of the layer in [Name] and click [OK].

1-6 Draw a black edge around the image
Select [Draw Boundary] from the [Edit] menu. A dialog appears. Set [Width] to 60 pixels, [Color] to Black, and [Location] to Outside, then click [OK]. The black edges are created around the image. Select [Release] from the [Selected Areas] menu.

1-7 Create a layer filled with white
Select [Layer] from [New] in the [Layer] menu, and enter White for the name of the layer in [Name]. Click [OK]. Select [Fill] from the [Edit] menu. A dialog appears. Set White for [Use] and click [OK].

1-8 Move the white layer to the lowest part
Drag the white layer in the layers palette, and move it below Layer 0. The sequence of the layers from bottom to top is White, Layer 0 and Frame.
