Information:
Scientific name: Chalcosoma chiron. Caucasus beetles are found at elevations of around 1,000 m in the mountain ranges of Sumatra, Java, the Malay peninsula, and Indochina. Male Caucasus beetles are 62-133 mm in length; females measure 53-60 mm. The largest native Asian beetles, Caucasus beetles feature a long three-point horn and a short single-point horn. These insects are aggressive and armed with sharp claws.
Habituated to high altitudes, these beetles are tropical but are sensitive to excessive heat. They prefer temperatures around 15-20°C. This beetle is also known as the King of the East. |
