Give children a simple digital camera that's easy to use, and
let them take pictures of whatever they wish. You may be surprised what children see from their vantage
point. At this point, the secret is not to try to teach or correct the kids. Let them shoot as they please. |
 |
Children are not bound by the adult rules of good
photography. They will take pictures of subjects you would never imagine with composition you could never
approve, but this is fine. Adults may even learn something from pictures kids take. Try combining kid's
photos with their drawings in an album. Such a creation could provide many pleasant memories down the road
of life. |

An adult would compose a picture like this. |
 |
| When asking someone at a tourist resort,
etc. to take your picture, explaining how to focus and the rules of composition is both futile and
an imposition on the person you ask. Just stand in the center and ask them to get everything in the
picture from the top of your head to the tip of your toes, and hope for the best. You can always
trim the photo later. |
