With a body 20 to 30m long, that can weigh between 100 and 200 tons, the blue whale is the largest mammal in existence. Despite their enormous size, blue whales live mainly on a diet of small krill, which they filter through baleen plates that hang from their upper jaw, eating up to 4 tons a day. The blue whale's song is louder than the call of any other animal, and the low frequency songs they emit can be heard by other whales at distances of over 150km away.
