Scientific name: Dynastes hercules. Hercules beetles are found in isolated pockets of the Central and South American tropical rainforests. These are the world's largest beetles, with males measuring 46-178 mm and females 50-80 mm in length. Male hercules beetles feature two long horns as long as their body, and the front wings are yellowish orange in color. Depending on environmental factors like humidity, some hercules beetles can be completely black. This species is partitioned into twelve subspecies based on the size of thoracic horns and the location of the projections.
