Takarabune-mon is an original Chiyogami pattern that depicts one of the lucky symbols of the New Year. The motif is that of a sail ship laden with bags of rice and other treasures and bearing the legend 'nakakiyono toono nefurino minamesame naminorifuneno otono yokikana' (let us sleep sound through the long night and in the morning we may hear the sound of our ship carried upon the waves), which can be read either forwards or backwards in Japanese. It is said that if the text is repeated three times and the pattern placed beneath one's pillow on the second night of the new year, auspicious dreams can be had. We have red, green and purple patterns for you to download.
