[36 views of Mount Fuji - Gaifukaisei] The 36 views of Mount Fuji, by the "ukiyoe" painter Katsushika Hokusai, are a collection of views of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, seen from various areas. When this collection first appeared, it attracted incredible popularity indicative of the reverence held by the Japanese people towards Mount Fuji at the time. Gaifukaisei, also known as Red Fuji, is one of the representative works of Katsushika Hokusai showing images of Mount Fuji bathed in the morning sunlight from summer to autumn.
