[36 views of Mount Fuji - The Great Wave of Kanagawa] The 36 views of Mount Fuji, by the ukiyoe painter Hokusai Katsushika, are a collection of views of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, seen from various areas. When this collection first appeared, it attracted incredible popularity indicative of the reverence held by the Japanese people towards Mount Fuji at the time. The Greate Wave off Kanagawa is one Hokusai Katsushika's representative works from his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series, which capture the moment of waves crashing.
